RANKINGS AND RECOGNITIONS - GRUPO AVAL HOLDINGS
We participated for the fifth consecutive year in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and obtained a score of 65 points, an increase of 16 points compared to 2023, placing us in the 90th percentile
We achieved sixth place in the ranking of the 10 most inclusive companies in Latin America. The Diversity Chamber and the National Consulting Center develop this ranking to recognize and highlight initiatives by organizations and individuals dedicated to creating safe and discrimination-free workplaces
Our President, María Lorena Gutiérrez, was recognized as CEO of the Year 2025 by Forbes Colombia. María Lorena, together with María Fernanda Suárez — President of Banco Popular, Ana Milena López — President of Corfi, and Ana Margarita Albir — President of ADL, were also recognized among the 100 Most Powerful Women 2025 for their leadership and influence in the country.
We were recognized as the second conglomerate with the best reputation in Colombia, moving up 18 positions in the Merco Empresas 2024 ranking. Five senior executives from Grupo Aval and its subsidiaries were recognized by Merco Líderes
During 2024, we maintained a BB rating in the MSCI ranking. In the Social dimension, our practices to maintain data privacy and security stood out. Regarding the Governance pillar, we excelled in corporate conduct due to our strong policies on business ethics and anti-corruption.
Grupo Aval, Banco de Bogotá, Banco Popular, and Corfi received the IR Recognition from the Colombian Stock Exchange (BVC).
Grupo Aval and all its subsidiaries obtained the Friendly Biz recertification for the sixth consecutive year, granted by the Diversity Chamber in recognition of our commitment to inclusion and diversity. The next recertification will take place in 2026.
As part of the Global She Is Forum 2024, aimed at highlighting women’s empowerment and gender equity, our President María Lorena Gutiérrez was honored as Woman of the Year 2024.
Grupo Aval Shares and Values S.A. was internationally recognized after being included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026, following the achievement of a score of 81/100 in the 2025 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), which evaluates the environmental, social, and governance performance of leading companies worldwide.
Our Founder, Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo, was awarded the Order of Business Merit by ANDI in recognition of his career and contribution to the country’s business development.
Fintech Americas awarded us the SILVER Award in Colombia in the Payment Solutions category at the País Awards for the Tag Aval project, after a highly competitive process with more than 350 nominations, consolidating our position as a benchmark for innovation and transformation in banking and financial services in Latin America.
Our President, María Lorena Gutiérrez, and María Fernanda Suárez — President of Banco Popular — were recognized by La República among the 25 individuals who shaped business, finance, and the economy in 2025, highlighting their leadership in the consolidation of Aval Fiduciaria and the strengthening of Banco Popular, respectively.
Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo, founder of Grupo Aval, and María Lorena Gutiérrez, President, were recognized by Merco Líderes in 24th and 11th place, respectively. María Fernanda Suárez, from Banco Popular, ranked 45th, and César Prado, from Banco de Bogotá, ranked 57th, reflecting the strength and leadership of their professional trajectories in the country.
In 2025, Grupo Aval raised its rating to BBB in the MSCI ESG ranking, driven mainly by progress in the social pillar through strengthened responsible investment practices, outperforming the industry average, and by outstanding governance supported by solid business ethics and anti-corruption policies.

- Aval enters the banking sector with the acquisition of Banco de Occidente Credencial.
- Las Villas savings and housing corporation is founded


1991 to 1992
- Acquisition and consolidation of Banco de Bogotá.
- Establishment of Porvenir Severance Fund.
- Porvenir expands its portfolio to become a Pension and Severance Fund
- Acquisition of Banco del Comercio and merger with Banco de Bogotá


1997 to 1999
- Acquisition of Banco Popular and Ahorramas.
- Acquisition of financial corporations, later merged to become Corficolombiana

1998 to 1999
- Grupo Aval begins operations
- Grupo Aval's first share offering on the Colombian Stock Exchange (BVC)


2000 to 2007
- Grupo Aval carries out its second share issuance in the Colombian market.
- Acquisition of Megabanco, Banco Aliadas and Banco Unión Colombiano
- Merger of Ahorramás and Las Villas.


2010 to 2011
- Registration with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
- Acquisition of related-party shares to consolidate 93.7% of Banco Popular.
- Local issuance of US$1.1 billion represents the largest placement in the Colombian capital market by a private company.
- Grupo Aval issues preferred shares totaling COP$2.08 trillion.


2012 to 2013
- Grupo Aval and Banco de Bogotá issue international market bonds for US$1.6 bn and US$1.1 bn, respectively.
- The acquisition of BBVA Horizonte is closed, which later merges with Porvenir.
- Acquisition of BBVA Panama and Grupo Reformador in Guatemala is closed.
- Grupo Aval issues common shares for 2.4 bn.
- The shareholding in Banco de Bogotá and Banco de Occidente increases.

2014 to 2018
- Grupo Aval issues preferred shares as ADRs on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
- Increased direct ownership in Banco de Bogotá and Banco de Occidente.
- Grupo Aval acquires a direct stake in Corficolombiana.

2019 to 2020
- Grupo Aval issues local market bonds for $400 billion.
- Grupo Aval issues international market bonds for US$1.0 bn.
- The acquisition of Multi Financial Group of Panama is closed.

2021 to 2022
- Spin-off of 75% of BHI (BAC Holding International Corp.) to Banco de Bogotá shareholders, and spin-off to Grupo Aval shareholders of the BHI shares received.
- Banco de Bogotá participated in a tender offer for BHI common shares, selling 20.89% of its stake.

2024 to 2025
- In December 2024, Grupo Aval completed the acquisition of 94.5% of Aval Fiduciaria (formerly Fiduciaria Corficolombiana), 40.7% of Aval Casa de Bolsa (formerly Casa de Bolsa), and the creation of Aval Banca de Inversión was approved, officially constituted on January 13, 2025.
